Legislative Director

A New York State Senator is seeking a hard-working self-starter with exceptional communication and organizational skills to serve as a Legislative Director in the Albany or Queens office. Working directly with the Senator, Chief of Staff, and the Deputy Chief of Staff to advance the legislative and policy goals of the office, the Legislative Director has multiple responsibilities including:
oDriving the office's legislative and committee agenda and strategy oAdvising the Member on floor votes oInterfacing with staff from committees, advocates, community and union stakeholders, caucuses, and other member offices to build political consensus around policies oProviding assistance managing the legislative staff oResponding to urgent and time-sensitive matters during the evenings and weekends oStaffing the Senator at events and meetings as needed The position is based in Albany and requires flexibility to travel to the Queens District Office when necessary or could be based in Queens with the flexibility to travel to the Albany office.

Salary Range:
From $60000 to $75000 Annually
Minimum Qualification
Qualified candidates must have:
oBachelor's degree in public policy, public administration, political science or other relevant field of study oJD strongly preferred but not required oThree to five years of legislative experience with a proven record of developing and advancing strategic legislative plans that achieve results oThorough knowledge of the legislative process and state senate budget procedures oFamiliarity with Queens and the surrounding neighborhoods and the concerns and challenges facing its residents o2 years of previous experience managing a team The ideal candidate will also possess the following competencies:
?Strong attention to detail ?Flexibility and comfort working in an environment with priorities, deadlines, and meeting dates constantly changing ?Ability to meet attendance requirements including a varied and often unpredictable work schedule ?Excellent political instincts and judgement ?Ability to work quickly under pressureEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
